Mavis Brake

Welcome! I am a Canadian artist residing in Winnipeg Canada. I’ve always been inspired by, and drawn to nature. Nature impacts all of my work, whether abstract, realism, serious or just pure play painting. Mood, emotion, memories, colours … so much goes into a painting. I like to mix bold colours, use various brush strokes and paint knives to create my art.

​I have a studio in my home, where I do most of my paintings, however I have been known to pack my paints when I head to the lake, or even holiday across the country. Most of my creativity is expressed in acrylic paintings, however I also dabble in live edge wood furniture, wood carving and photography.

I think I am very fortunate to have this creative outlet. My life has had its share of ups and downs, and more than once I’ve found focus and relaxation from a simple doodle. Thank you for taking an interest in my paintings and learning a little about me.
